Full Job Description

Fortis Recruitment is working with a market leading manufacturing company based in the Newbury area to recruit a Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will ensure the compliance, communication, and day to day management of the companies Health and Safety and Environment management system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
  • Outline safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards.
  • Undertake regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Support the preparation of HS&E strategies and develop internal policy.
  • Work with all managers and staff to ensure all risk assessments are prepared and reviewed as necessary and if required assist with their preparation.
  • Record incidents and investigate accidents to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Assist in producing meaningful KPI’s for management reviews.
  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer’s industry.
  • Produce management reports, team briefs and other bulletins as required.
  • Undertake audits and support the journey towards ISO45001.
  • Support the Facilities and Process teams to manage COSHH and to provide advice on subjects such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, occupational diseases.
  • Provide support for HSE software users across the business.
  • Own aspects of the HSE roadmap and delivering on these.
  • Work with the business and others to support development and implementation of new initiatives or sharing of best practices to support safe and efficient working.
  • Act as an informed, objective, and proficient advisor for HSE management across all workstreams.
  • Reviewing and developing HSE documentation to support the existing safety management system.
  • Deliver health and safety inductions and training as required.

Education, Qualifications and Training

  • IOSH Managing Safely Certificate (minimum).
  • NEBOSH or willingness to work towards this (company to put you through this).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Ideally experience of working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

An attractive salary of £30-40k per annum is on offer for the successful candidate. Hours of work are 08.00 – 17.30 Monday to Friday.
