This is a great opportunity to join GE Aerospace as a Safety and Reliability, Maintainability and Testability (RM&T) Team Leader, working with the UK Safety and RM&T Leader to ensure that UK team of Safety and RM&T Engineers are successful in achieving their commitments to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC).
The role is based at our site in Cheltenham, where we develop the latest technology in Avionic Controllers and Power distribution systems for both Civil and Military aviation applications, so there is lots of opportunity to learn about how electronic and electrical products are developed for the aerospace industry.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Safety and RM&T Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day to day tactical management of the team, helping the safety and RM&T team to provide the highest quality assessments and analysis to the projects we support. This includes:

  • Leading the weekly stand-up meetings with the team where we track SCQDC performance on the projects we support.
  • Be the Safety and RM&T focal for Bids and Proposals and Lead those activities with support from the UK Safety and RM&T Leader and other team members as appropriate.
  • Be the control account manager for Safety and RM&T for Major Projects. This involves: working with the Safety and RM&T engineers assigned to those projects to track adherence to cost and schedule and raise any variances with the project manager. Providing the interface between the SRM&T technical team and the engineering project managers and representing Safety and RM&T at internal project reviews and customer meetings.
  • Leading Safety and RM&T team Lean initiatives to drive efficient and effective project execution.
  • Monitor actual spend vs original estimates to feedback into B&P activities.
  • Perform Safety and TLE analyses on projects with support from STLE tech leads as needed and as capacity allows.

Required Qualifications

An appropriate degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Electronics, Applied Physics or similar subject, or equivalent experience.

Demonstrable experience of working in an engineering or operational environment where planning, schedule adherence and end product quality is key.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the experience and confidence in presenting to peers and more senior stakeholders within the business.

Desired Characteristics

Previous experience in an aviation, automotive or similar embedded systems development environment is helpful as it demonstrates understanding of working to rigorous industry mandated development standards; for example, ARP4754A and ARP4761. This shows a knowledge of working with complex system designs, for implementation in hardware and software.

Previous experience or knowledge of how the Reliability and Safety engineering activities interact with the wider development process.
